One Million Bloody Fingers Can’t Be Wrong

The Internet is a strange and mysterious beast. Unpredictable and all over the place, you just never know what is going to start on fire and blow up across browsers everywhere. When it comes to the viral aspect of the Internet, there is no science. You think you know, but you don’t. Fortunes have been made and lost over trying to predict what will go viral on the net. Just when you think you’ve got a sure thing, a hamster or something equally absurd comes along and makes you shake your head with a collective ā why??? Followed by a wish that you would have thought of it.

Bloody Fingermail's analytics since 2005. It's big in Turkey. Go figure...
While not quite reaching the insanity of a full blown meme, Engine’s very own Bloody Finger Mail fits into that model of unpredictable success that was not entirely the intention of its creators back in 2002. What was meant as a simple gesture of holiday spirit between friends and clients has, over the years, turned into one of the most successful, and simplest, viral campaigns Engine has produced. With close to two million bleeding fingers painting dripping and bloody messages for creeped out recipients since the application was built, Bloody Finger Mail’s unique visitor number is pushing the seven million mark. And that’s only since Google Analytics has been keeping track of such things since 2005.
Join the millions who have sent a bloody finger message to a friend this Halloween and send some creepy cheer to someone. Then, if you’re still in the mood for some more weirdness, why not take a look at a timeline history of some the most successful memes that have graced the screens of the Internet going back as far as far as the early 80’s. Oh, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!
